  1. I have a 40gig maxtor hdd that was damaged playing with my dog.
The short story... the pc was over turned. :)

No physical damage I can see, but the drive wasn't bolt down.

Now the hdd beeps none stop, & wont boot.

Placed the hdd in as slave in another pc, windowsXP detected it, reboot to finish install.
After reboot the hdd doesnt show up in My Computer.

Beeps on bootup, stops after windows is running.

I'm sure the drive is toast... But is there a way to recover my data?

    Thanks.

There are services that will recover the data for mucho money. Mucho mucho money.

If it's under warranty, you MIGHT be able to arrange for a trade and recover your data. I somewhat doubt this, but it's worth looking into.

If you're not totally concerned about your data, you can try the drive diagnostics compendium that we have around here. The drive may be restored to working state. However, in that process the data may be lost.
