    I'm certainly no expert, but I like AVG.....active shield, updates, and FREE.

    I think the active shield for AVG's free antivirus doesn't expire. The shield for AVG's free antispyware program does expire, however.

    Avast is another good free antivirus program.

    Dude, that's only for the AVG Anti-Spyware, not the anti-virus which is more important. Also, it's not 60 days, it's 30!!

    OK, I installed AVG, because I saw that this anti-virus is a good one.

    Now, do i need to make some settings, to improve the protection or I should let the program as is installed in the first time?

    When I setup AVG for my customer I select that the scan be a high priority task and do NOT use the scheduled scan. I recommend they perform they routine maintenance manually to ensure utilities don't conflict and the steps are actually done.
