According to this story at Digitimes, Best Buy has decided to suspend the development of their own-brand notebooks due to pressure from big vendors like Hewlett Packard. The notebooks that were launched in late 2002, enjoyed of strong sales (7,000-8,000 units per month) and were manufactured in cooperation with Taiwan-based Quanta Computer.
As most of you should know, growth of notebook sales has remained healthy in the last few years making it a very attractive market.
In any case, the most relevant information I found was that other big chain stores such as Office Depot and Wal-Mart already offer or soon will offer own-brand notebooks, hopefully this will come down to lower prices to us.
