BioWare's next major game gets delayed, Mass Effect franchise reportedly on hiatus

I remember the first time I finished ME3 and I stared in shock at the screen for minutes, wondering how the f**k they ruined an amazing trilogy. Who cares if the intended ending was leaked - I didn't look at it. Just do the same ending and make it even more mindblowingly good. But no. We got a choice of red or blue (green came later). A hundred hours of gameplay where they promised all our choices would have meaning and in the end we had to pick a colour.
They did improve the ending in later free updates but it never really lost its bad smell. I have since replayed the full trilogy and enjoyed it more, now that I know what to expect from the ending. (ME2 has the best story and ending. ME3 has the best polish and pacing, also good multiplayer). Perhaps MEA will also improve in later updates or the next game. But I'm not spending money on it until I start seeing more complimentary reviews.

not the worst, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype.
Worst developed, not worst game, just worst developed, I mean come on... it's 2016 and you can't design a human face better than or equal with 2015 witcher 3? And ME2 and ME3 were quite nice... why to go backwards in quality?

face mocap is very expensive and time consuming (especially for the huge number of spoken lines in the game). it seem that the devs skimped on that part and just used algorithms to get dynamic face animations instead of pre-recorded VO performances. they pre-recorded some expressions and from those they let algorithms create the inbetweens. unfortunately it clearly didn't work properly, but I'm assuming that it saved a lot of time and money (although it took them a freaking 5 years to make it).

I can only facepalm at the results.

Also my point, but unfortunately this didn't save our money though :D

it did for some. although I bought the first 3, I didn't buy the new one. it just didn't look interesting and the bugs didn't exactly paint a pretty picture.
maybe after a few more patches it would be worth buying when there is a big sale. patches 1.05 and 1.06 did improve the animations a bit (for example, they added eye tracking and adjusted some animations, facial expressions and changed some cutscenes)
what they really need to do is change the neutral faces to have no expression instead of always smiling. it's just creepy when they have serious talks and they look like they are having the best time of their lives.

I thought Mass Effect 2 was a great game mainly to the story, never understood the hype of the first and third game. First game had the generic mass effect story with horrible PC controls. Third game felt like it was backed into a corner and rushed.

Seems like they made new horrible PC controls. Weeeeee....
