Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) - What Caused It?

  1. Hey.

So I just got a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and I was trying to figure out what caused it. I know I've heard you can use the files generated when a BSOD occurs to pinpoint a cause but I have little to no experience doing so myself. If someone could walk me through/refer me to another thread with a similar answer, that would be great.

    Thanks so much.

Go to C:\windows\minidump. Minidump files have a .dmp extension. Select all the .dmp files and right-click, sending all the files to a compressed(zipped)folder. Upload this folder as a file here... What were you doing when the BSOD happened?

I only have one .dmp file and I can't compress it into a folder for some reason. "File not found or no read permission". I also don't have permission to upload them as raw .dmp files.

I was playing a video game while watching a youtube video or live stream on my other monitor.
