Everytime this screen appears it says Machine_Check_Exception
    with an error code 0x0000009c (0x00000004, 0x8054d470, 0xb2000000, 0x00070f0f).

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your bugcheck of 9C means you have some kind of hardware failure.

    0x0000009C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION

This is a hardware issue: an unrecoverable hardware error has occurred. The parameters have different meanings depending on what type of CPU you have but, while diagnostic, rarely lead to a clear solution. Most commonly it results from overheating, from failed hardware (RAM, CPU, hardware bus, power supply, etc.), or from pushing hardware beyond its capabilities (e.g., overclocking a CPU).

Check all the things in the above paragraph.

Go HERE and follow the instructions.

    Regards Howard

i went through all the instructions you gave me,
it still don't work....could it be a malfunction in the processor?
i'm not too familiar with computers so any help would be appreciated thanks

Yes, it could be the cpu, but it could also be the psu/mobo/ram/video card etc etc.

It really is a case of ellimination I`m afraid.

If you`re not comfortable in messing around inside your computer. I suggest you take it to your local pc repair shop and have them look at it for you.

    Regards Howard :)

hi could you tell me where the minidump files are located?
and is it possible for me to send you a few to find out whats wrong?
    thanks :)

The minidumps are located in the following directory. C:/windows/minidump

Whether they will show anything useful is debatable.

i can't seem to find the directory C:/windows/minidump
could they be located in a different directory?
    thanks :)

The minidumps are normally stored on the system root of the hard drive in the folder windows/minidump.

It could be that your computer isn`t set to write minidupms when it crashes.

Right click my computer and select properties. Click on the advanced tab and under startup and recovery select settings.

In the write debugging information box, make sure the overwrite existing file box is unchecked and set to small memory dump(64KB). You can set the directory to where you would like to have the minidumps written, but normally you would leave it set to the %system root%\minidump. Click ok/apply/ok And restart your computer.

    Regards Howard :)
