I just built a new system with a MSI K8M800 MOBO
    Installed Win 98
Everything is fine until I load the Video Drivers from the MSI CD.
On reboot, the Win 98 splash screen pops up then goes black?
Am I missing something in the bios setup?
MOBO is good, had it running WIndows XP before.
Tried resetting all the bios to factory defaults...No Help

    Any got any ideas?

    Thanks

Perhaps the video drivers you installed are for XP and not 98. Are there different ones to select from?

Can you boot in safe mode? You can try to download a more recent driver from the MSI site (if we are talking about onboard graphics).

When I load the drivers from the MSI CD, the header says that its for win 9x, so I'm pretty sure its the right one.
The updated drivers from MSI claim to be the same for both 98 and XP
There is no problem booting in to safe mode.
In safe mode I have deleted the video driver via the CNTRL Panel.
    I can then reboot normally.

Perhaps the mobo doesnt support w9x at all. OK it does.. my bad :p Try installing newer drivers.

did some more reading: Do you have to install the drivers?

I have to install the video driver other wise I'm stuck with 16 colors, etc, etc
All the other hardware drivers work fine (USB, Network Card, etc)
I did see another post dealing with too much memory with Win 98
I have a 1GB stick and apparently there are issues with anything more than 512MB
