Boot up problem IS7-G

I have been getting a "hard disk has been changed" message when I boot up. I have to go into the bios and auto detect my hard drive for it to complete the sequence. When I do that it boots normally. It's a pain to keep doing this! Any ideas as to why this may be happening?
Here are my stats:
Abit IS7-G
Phoenix Award BIOS v6.00PG
Hyper Threading Technology
Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
Seagate 120GB (only HD)
1024MB RAM
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
Any advice would be appreciated!

Sounds like a bios problem. have to checked to see if their is a bios update available? flashing to an updated bios might correct the problem.

I know there is an update but I'm scared to f**k up!
I don't want to screw it up worse...The flash thing is what scares me.

from what I saw the latest bios update is in their "flash menu" update format which shouls automate the entire process.

most the major mobo makers now offer a bios update process that runs from within windows. you would have to read the file that should be included in the download file of Asus "flash menu" bios update to be certain if this is how theirs works.

IF that is a bios update that runs within widows IT will flash the bios as the machine reboots..
