What exactly are you trying to boot from it?

I am trying to make a bootable Windows USB stick.
My Bios settings are locked, so am unable to change boot sequence.

Windows 2k/XP cannot boot from USB without some serious modifications. Or are you talking about Vista or 9x? Or do you mean some PE version of Windows?

Nodsu, thanks for your reply. To be honest with you all I want right now is to be able to install any Operating system at the moment just to get the thing up and running. So if you can advise further.

You can install virtually any Linux distro or BSD or Solaris on USB mass storage. Just pick the one you want and google for a guide.

For Vista I have seen claims that is Just Works when installing to a USB drives and reports that it will BSOD just like 2k/XP..
