I have an old IBM ThinkVision L150p 15" that when i plug in the LED in the front will blink once green and there is a high pitch beep then nothing.... screen doesnt come on, LED isn't on... nothing

I've tried two different power cords, 2 video cords, replaced both boards ( one that you plug power into and another you plug video input into) and still nothing...

if anyone has any idea what might be going wrong please let me know.

Sounds like blown caps inside the monitor
If it does the same on another computer as well, then throw away or warranty return it, if it's covered by warranty

nah there's no warranty.... it's something i found in my grandparents basement and they said that it was broken and that i could have it.

what are the "caps in the monitor" and are they replaceable?

EDIT

I found my answer... It turned out being 7 out of the 10 capasitors made by HERMEI on the power board ( model # 715L1034-1) this board is used in a range of different monitor brands and models. Examples in the link below. Turns out the blown caps may also have caused the Zener diode ZD904 to overheat and short. I'm ordering replacement capacitors (not Hermei in brand) to fix it.

Thank you for your help in leading me in the right direction.

Here's some links to the sites I found out what was wrong, for more in-depth information:

Hope this helps anyone else with this issue.

It's not wise to repair this 15" screen
Best to throw away

You can of course try to fix it just for fun and experience, if it works, bonus :grinthumb
Normally once a screen is found to be classed as dead, I advise to get another screen (ie safety reasons mainly)
