Bsod - 40000080

  1. I'm running a WinXP SP2 fully up-to-date on a Dell Inspiron 600m (pentium M processor, ati radeon mobility 9000 graphics card, ipw2100 intel wireless nic, broadcom 570x gigabit wired ethernet). My computer is a dual boot (Ubuntu + WinXP). I haven't had any software issues ever for the past 3 years that I've owned the laptop.

Starting a week ago, my computer would lock up randomly in Ubuntu. I reinstalled the ubuntu partition, ran off a live-cd, and I would still get these random lockups. After lots of googling, I haven't exactly tracked down the problem, but I am getting kernel messages that suggest it might be the wired Broadcom 570x gigabit ethernet adapter.

Anyway, since I started having these problems in ubuntu, I booted into my winxp partition and tried to see if I could crash my laptop in anyway by doing what I was doing in ubuntu: Surfing the net, listening to music and reading email in thunderbird.

Well, tonight I got a BSOD two times in the windows partition.... I've /NEVER/ had a BSOD on this laptop, and I have used WinXP fairly extensively.

The Event Viewer "System" tab shows an event like so:
I downloaded the WinXP SP2 "System Tools" package, which has "dumpchk"... I ran it on the attached two minidump files that I got from the BSOD.... But I can't figure out from those minidumps what exactly is causing the crash. Any ideas???

Bugcheck 40000080 is the NDIS Driver bugcheck (network related). See if you can update the driver for your ethernet adapter. If you can't, then try uninstalling/reinstalling.
