BSOD when playing

By zande
May 11, 2006
  1. I continue to have BSOD, all blue without an error message, when playing various games. I suspect the video card but I tried many versions, official and not, of the drivers.
    Here are the minidumps: http://www.liuteriadinsieme.it/gurdulu/minidump.zip
    Can someone please help me?

please enter minidumps as an attachment, not a link - especially to a foreign country. no one wants to risk getting a virus. At least we can scan the download before opening it.

    Hi,

From the stack trace of the minidump, I believe that the culprit is faulty ram. Run mermtest to stress test the ram.

ok, I did some monitoring during a crash with fan speed (GPU not has a sensor).

    On normal work:
    motherboard 43 °C
    CPU 47 - 50 °C
    vent 3600 rpm

    Running games:
    motherboard 46 °C
CPU suddenly goes to 60 °C and stand beetween 60-64 °C
    vent 4500 rpm

    after some minutes blue screen

    my specs are:
    motherboard Asrock P4V88
    Bios 1.60
    chipset Via PT880
    CPU Pentium IV 3.00 GHz
video card Hercules 3d Prophet radeon 9800
sound card CMedia AC-97 on board
    ram x2 512 Mb DDR-SDRAM 330 MHz
    PSU Q-TEC 450 W
HDD ATA Samsung SP4200H 40 Gb
HDD ATA Maxtor 6Y080L0 80 Gb
    DVD LG HL-DT-ST GSA-4167B
    OS Windows XP SP2

    did some more tests.
I opened the case and put my "house" fan close to pull out the heat.
the temps were 27 °C the mobo and 53 °C the CPU, but the system crashes the same.
running the same game in windowed mode instead that full screen tells me, in the bsod, that the error is in cmuda.sys, the audio driver, but in full screen it says nothing.
So is not the heatingor not only the heating.... what else?

here are some new minidump if someone is willing.....

Ok, Itried to disable the sound card from bios and it seem to work, I did some test and no more crashes.
But how can I do to make work properly the sound card?

have you tried updating the sound card drivers from the manufacturer's website? or every other drivers? (including mobo drivers?)

those cpu temps are abit too high for my likeing.. clean out your case with compressed air or a vaccum cleaner (dust) and if its still above 45 then take out the cpu & hsf and reapply some new arctic silver..

i cant read minidumps yet so just do the above suggestions in the meanwhile...
