I would recommend the build I'm doing right now

    Intel i3-540 processor
    140$

    Gigabyte H55M-UD2H mother board
    110$

Corsair 550Watt or Corsair 750Watt power suppy depending on how powerful the graphics card will be and for future upgraded such as crossfire or SLI
    85$(550) 100$(750)

    Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
    $105

Cooler Master Storm Scout, kick *** case that currently has free shipping and rebates on newegg
    $80

for hard drive I would recommend this one as it's got very good performance in gaming and applications
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 70$

For graphics card you probably wanna go with a good "bang for the buck card" such as the ATI Radeon 5770 which will run you about 160$

Total will be 750$ Shipping is gonna be 13 if you get it all on newegg for this, and this system will not let you down in terms of performance both in applications and gaming

You can find all these components on newegg.com for the prices I listed

What resolution will you be playing these games in?
Do you already have a DVD drive that you can use for this system or do you need to buy one?

At that price range you'll have some great options. I would suggest waiting this week to check out the Radeon HD 5830 that ATI is launching.

Else you could look into these:

    AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition - $160.99
    GIGABYTE GA-790XT-USB3 AM3 - $124.99
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 2 x 2GBDDR3 1600 - $104.99
    BFG Tech GS-550 550W - $49.99
    Western Digital Caviar Blue 640GB - $69.99
NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel Chassis - $69.99
    Sony Optiarc AD-7240S-0B - $23.99
    MSI Radeon HD 5770 1GB - $164.99

    Total - $769.92

I'm presuming that you have a monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS.

Also, like I said before, you should wait a week and see what the price of the HD 5830 will be.
