It's a long story, but basically I have two dvds I made with home movies on them with my tivo and need to edit them with windows movie maker (or another free editor). I am in search of a dvd decoder that will allow me to save the movies onto hard disk, and them import to an editing program. Any suggestions? (thanks in advance)

Have you downloaded the lastest version of Tivo Desktop? I heard they had a new release this week with a lot more features.

Thanks everyone for your input, yet the solution I found interesting. Vista version of Windows movie maker. It may not have worked exactly as my girlfriend had expected, but she got to edit the videos without downloading anything. I'm fairly sure it's only vistas version that will work because I keep my xp machine updated fairly well (including optional components). But if anyone can prove me wrong, please let me know. Thanks again
