For a week or so ive been running my old amd processor cos i thought id burnt my other one out. But now im not so sure because there are no burn marks on the chip. I thought it had burnt because there are small black lines on the top of the cpu, where it says L1, L2, L3 etc. Ive just looked at some amd cpu images on google and these marks are on the cpu's so im guessing they come like that.

If i decide to test the cpu what will happen if it is damaged? could it damage the rest of the hardware or just not boot?

    Thanks.

If your system wont boot with your cpu, but will with your old one, then it`s odds on that your cpu is fried.

You can`t always tell from looking at the cpu.

Ive tested the cpu and the computer boots but theres no signal on the monitor nor any beeps? Should i start saving for a new cpu?

It does look that way I`m afraid.

Could you test it another system just to be sure?

Well i tested the cpu in my old system instead of my new one so im thinkin the cpu is dead. Might try it in my new comp and that way il know for sure .
