kill some devices with fire!

Hmmm, I did not have service c34nb4c5, but I do have in the Device Manager and under devices that does not support P&P driver called c34nb4c5.

Anyone got a clue what the hell this is?

I also have there other suspicious drivers that does not support P&P, and their names are:

ATICDSDr
atidgllk
Beep - used, could this be removed for good somehow?
BOPOMAV
c34nb4c5
DirectX DLL register
e259q4c6
Fs_Rec
rvbedit (I killed this one already)
SSDefrag (I killed this one already)
NetGroup Packet Filter Driver
Parallel - used, could this be removed for good somehow?
YQZBNWOGRK (I killed this one already)

Can I remove/uninstall few of them? :)

It's not anti-virus or spyware protection - does it when they are disabled. If you look in your PCs System event log, I bet you'll find an Event ID 7035 with the text "The c34nb4c5 service was successfully sent a start control."

Oddly enough, Windows Defender then reports Event 3004:

Windows Defender Real-Time Protection agent has detected spyware or other potentially unwanted software.

Likely this is a false positive reaction from Windows Defender that is related to either Safedisc or PB. Whatever it is, it is certainly specific to BF2 ( the timestamps on the events correspond to BF2 load time).

Does this look or sound familiar?

Not, but I do have PB for many games and I also installed BF2 some long time ago, lol. So I quess I can try to kill the c34nb4c5 :)

Anyone got any ideas about the others?

Well, fist at all, to see all these devices, you have to use the registry tweak:

Code:
REGEDIT4

;show all the devices in the hardware table
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]
"DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES"=dword:00000001

And then reboot + choose in the menu again show all devices. Then you can see these.

And true, I had a mallware infection when I was running IE. Not anymore, but some stuff can remain there.

ATICDSDr - removed, no ill effects
atidgllk - removed, no ill effects (I do overclock, but I have nVidia card (ATI mobo chipset tough) and mobo I overclock in bios)

Beep - used, could this be removed for good somehow? Is not that the "beep" speaker anyway?

BOPOMAV - removed, no ill effects
c34nb4c5 - removed, no ill effects (probably related to PunkBuster)
e259q4c6 - removed, no ill effects (probably related to PunkBuster)

Fs_Rec - removed, but it keep comming back (should be File System recognizer)

NetGroup Packet Filter Driver - part of WinPcap - installed for Etheral sniffer, removed

Parallel - removed, but it keep comming back (parallel port disabled in bios)

YQZBNWOGRK - removed, no ill effects
