  1. ever since i had comcast cable installed i've been using a router to share. its a linksys one. well i've been experiencing times where my cable is completely inactive and times where it slows down ALOT. like my ping on wc3 and d2 is around 1500. then it'll go back to normal in about 30 seconds. and stay that way for about 10 minutes experiencing minor lag spikes (300-900 ping randomly) when i run fine i am usually around 40 ping and dl at 380 kb/s. but i need to figure out why i'm getting these moments of latency. HELP PLZ!!!

It is either your local cable loop being overcrowded - blame your cable company. Or your fellow users to whom you share your connection actually using it.

If you can, try running your connection without the router and see if the slowdowns still occur.

It is a good idea to turn off all the features on the router you do not need. It saves CPU cycles and reduces the chances of some ugly firmware bug coming up.
