Cable troubles

I have been having issues with my cable tv going in and out(not static but intermittent blackouts) , so I called the cable company and they said they had to replace all the old cable in the house with RG6. The problem is that they are charging $70 an hour for something I feel has a more simple solution. Any help?

Static, fade-in-out would be appropriate symptoms for bad cables

Cables themselves really can't go bad if they are stationary. Lop off the ends of them and put new ends on.
