I just bought a LG DVD burner.
    It says I need a P4 2.8Ghz machine.
    I have a P3 1.0 ghz.
Will it still run, just slower, or should I jsut take it back and get a different one?
    thanks

I think you have a 50-50 shot of it working. Only takes about 5 minutes to install check and see if it works, if it doesn't take it back. I am not sure how many dvd burners will say they work with 1ghz processors but I don't see why it would matter much.

A friend of mine burns DVDs OK with 800mhz,only he has to close all other programs to do it.

thats about the size of it
    it will suckup your processor
don't even go on line just let it crunch away
PS your burner specs may be more for video editing software that came with it than for the burner itself
if the machine ide cable is 40 wire replace with 80 wire
    both cable are 40 pin
\check your bios spec for udma setting if there is problems
