Cannot access My Computer, My Documents, Recycle Bin, etc.

For some reason I cannot open My Computer, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, and Control Panel from the Start Menu. Also, I can't open Recycle Bin from the Desktop. Whenever I click on one of those Windows makes this odd noise "bonk" and won't open. The only way I can get to them is by opening run and browsing to what I need. Can someone explain to me what is going wrong and how I can fix the problem?

Internet Explorer? If that's what you mean than no I did not.
