Any help much appreciated in getting rid of these popups. I have tried to use other threads on your forums which mention this same problem, but the popups keep coming back, mostly from firstadsolutions but some others as well. I have also run spybot and adaware se professional and removed any problems they have found. i use Firefox as my browser. Here is my hijackthis log followed by ewido report. Any help much appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

The only suspicious entry in your HJT log is Deafmpeg.exe. I can find no info on this file.

If you don`t recognise it as safe, do the following.

Boot into safe mode. See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html

Open your task manager, by holding down the ctrl and alt keys and pressing the delete key.

Click on the processes tab and end process for(if there).

Deafmpeg.exe

Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.qrtsanvcsw.net/7wyKe0qt9...aSl8DKav_NZ.htm

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\APPLIC~1\SLOWTI~1\Deafmpeg.exe

Run all your antispyware programmes and a full virus scan, delete whatever they find.

Reboot into normal mode and turn system restore back on.

Have followed the steps you suggested. only problem is when I come to delete deafmpeg.exe a message pops up saying:

cannot delete deafmpg:access is denied......make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.

the deafmpg.exe file is in

C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Application Data\Slow Time

along with a load of other things which I have no idea what they are. I have admin access.

thanks for your help

Ok, download the Pocket killbox programme from HERE.

Download the file, extract it, and run the killbox.exe file. When it loads type the full path to the file you would like to delete in the field and press the Delete File button (looks like a red circle with a white X). It will prompt you to reboot, allow it to do so, and hopefully your file will now be deleted.

Please let me know the results.

Post a fresh HJT log afterwards.

Regards Howard :)

OK I used Killbox and would not delete initially, but managed to delete the file when i configured killbox to delete on reboot. Checked for deafmpg.exe and was not in C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Application Data\Slow Time

ran hjt and still found the file in the log, fixed it, rebooted and no longer appears to be present. here is new log. thanks for your help and will let you know if this has fixed it, no popups for 5 minutes now...so here is hoping.

Edit: If you ever need to post a HJT log again, please see these instructions HERE.
