Hi Guys and Gals,

Here is my problem for you to ponder.

WinXP home edit. SP2. Windows appears to boot up fine. After boot up nothing will run from icons on desktop or startmenu items. If you hold the cursor over the toolbar the hourglass comes up. Icons in the icon coral do not show up. If I bring up taskmanager and shut down explorer.exe and then manually restart it everything will work fine.

I'm thinking the prob. is with the explorer.exe itself. What do you think?

Any suggestions on what I could do to remedy this.

Thank you for your time and any help you may offer .

To start run chkdsk/r and chkdsk/f Also, do you have the Windows disk? If I'd run a Windows repair.

Thank you for your suggestion . Will try the chkdsk options .
I've also found that setting the start menu to classic seems to fix the problem untill I turn back to normal start menu.

Thanks for now.

I ran chkdsk and everything is good. I ran the pc all day with classic start menu. Restarted several time and everything is fine. But when I turn of the classic start menu and restart the pc things happen again. Cannot run anything from icons on desktop and just get hourglass if I move mouse over start and the taskbar.

Don't know if any of you have run into this before.

Thanks for any ideas.

Wallie
