Cannot see GUI in Debian

  1. I installed Debian using the graphical install option (I followed almost similar steps shows by you) I also selected 'Graphical desktop environment' & 'standard systems utility'; but I don't understand why am I not able to see a GUI. Is there a command to activate it? all I get is a prompt to log-in and after I log-in it is a plain command line. Please assist!
