  1. I open my Control Panel and tried to click on the Sytem icon, I got a message that said "to help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. Name: Run a Dll as an App". What does all this mean and how can I fix this? Thank you.

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

What happens if you right click my computer and select properties. Do you still get the same results?

    Regards Howard

Let`s check to make sure you haven`t got a virus/spyware infection.

Go and read this thread HERE.

Post a HJT log into this thread and I`ll take a look and advise.

    Regards Howard :)

Run HJT with no other programmes open.Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = local.,

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {ACB1E670-3217-45C4-A021-6B829A8A27CB} - (no file)

    O8 - Extra context menu item: Coupons - file://C:\Program Files\websearch\System\Temp\couponsandoffers_script0.htm

    O8 - Extra context menu item: Rebate Nation - file://C:\Program Files\Rebate_Nation\Sy5300\Tp5300\scri5300a.htm

Click on the fix checked button.

    Close HJT.

    Reboot your computer.

I doubt whether fixing the above will solve your problem.

If as seems likely it doesn`t, perhaps doing a Windows repair as per this thread HERE will help.

    Regards Howard :)
