cant access my docs or control panel

hi i have a problem where i cant access my documents, my music, my pictures, my computer or control panel or recycle bin.

windows explorer keeps refreshing, and the start menu bar at the bottom disappears then reappears after 2 seconds, and the same thing happens again and again if i try to go to any of the places listed above.

can any1 help me solve this problem, help would very much be appreciated.

Do you have your documents stored on a network device or some sort of removable media drive?
