Can't boot up

When I try to start up my computer it just ends up at a black screen that says reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key. When I tried to reinstall vista my hard drive didn't show up, and when I went into vista to change the boot device the hard drive wasn't shown there either.

Sound like the hard drive is bad. If you haven't opened up the computer and changed anything then you probably need a new drive.

I don't think the hard drive is even a year old that would suck if it already went bad

Well open up the computer if it's a desktop, unhook the cables to the hard drive and re-seat them. Restart the computer and go into the bios and try again to set up the hard drive.
