A computer compiled with gateway parts but new motherboard crashed xp. Formatted hard drive on another computer but can't install vista. Kernal is missing or corrupt. ntkrnlpa.exe Windows boot manager stops the install. stop error code 0xc0000221. How can I get past this problem if I have no operating system on computer? Thanks.

Is the copies of Vista and XP proper copies or burnt ones, because, if its anything like linux distros, failing setups can be caused by burning the cd/dvd at a rate higher then x4 or so. Also what is your exact computer specs?
cheers

Legal copies. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+. Bios V5.3 072106. System memory 1045576K. Micro Star Intl K8N Neo4H. The story goes he upgraded to vista 32 then decided he wanted vista 64 then uninstalled both and used xp. Something hit the keyboard and xp started looping safe mode menu but wouldn't go to safe mode. Now on boot up I'm getting NTLDR missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart.
