Can't logon issue after ghosting solved, alternative for Norton Ghost ?

Hi,
I just went through a lot of trouble to make my ghost work again

Let me tell you my story first
In short (actually long): my windows partition has the drive letter L: (reason why is another story) and I made a backup with Norton Ghost couple of weeks ago and placed it back now.
Upon rebooting, the logon box would instantly switch to logging off
Issue explained here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249321/

Apparently my L: no longer existed and was back to the standard C:
It's a know issue when ghosting so it seems

So I had to go through a lot of trouble to transfer my registry hive files to another pc and fix the registry there.

So basically, I don't wanna go through that again and I'm looking for alternative backup software that doesn't change the boot partition drive letter.
I've heard some things about Acronis True Image but I need to be sure first.

Thx for your time !

I use Drive Image in a Powerquest version from BEFORE it was turned into crippleware by Symantec.
If I would need a new product today, I would definitely go for Acronis True Image!
You will NOT find any Symantec/Norton junk in my house!
