I have a IBM R40 laptop(2682). Two days ago I found it crashed one hour after start so I have to enforce it to be turned off and restarted. Same thing happened again yesterday and this time I was not able to start my laptop again. The running light was still on but screen was all black after several beeps(I believe it's 1 long and 2 short). What's the problem? Is this a typical monitor or videocard problem? I didn't do data back-up yet and the only thing I can do is praying that it's not a possible damage to the harddrive. Any suggestion is really appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.
Typically 1 long and 2 short beeps = videocard failure.
Time to have your laptop taken for repair, unless of course you can do the work yourself.
