i probably won't look further into it tonight.. but i was almost going to ask you if mcafee... because as i thought about firewalls it brought up a memory of reading about mcafe having a script blocking component which could interfere with web sites.

not a 100% sure about that.. but maybe no need for you to do any more testing don't till i can see about your firewall

I pulled the following product lists from McAfee's website on Product Guides and Datasheets (guessing all products should be mentioned here) . I copied what i thought was the relevant list. Let me know should your products not appear below

Please tell me which one or more of these McAfee products you are using. Since some of these product names are quite similar, please verify the product name of what you are actually running/using is the exact match for the product names you identify in the list below.

hope you've been having the weather we did today!

a quick post / thought/ easy test before trying anything else (e.g. moving router, safemode etc.)

unplug your computer from network

Turn off your McAfee firewall (can you confirm or double check all of its components are off?)

Turn on the Windows firewall (see here)

Connect back to internet, restart your browsers and try the websites again

McAfee SecurityCenter (7.2.151) appears to be just a front end that bundles:
McAfee VirusScan, 11.2.125
McAfee Personal Firewall, 8.2.122
McAfee Privacy Service, 9.2.134
McAfee SpamKiller, 8.2.139

Both the PC and the Laptop the same software.

BUT, as you pointed out the Router is also a point of commonality. I pulled it out to bypass it and saw the jumble of wires, so I thought I would log into it and check on things first:

I double checked the Internet filters (AxtiveX, Java, etc.) Nothing was checked as being turned on. But, I started thinking, "what if it just didn't initialize correctly and was actually partly on?" So, I turned them all on and restarted. Sure enough, nothing worked, as one would expect with everything being filtered out. Then I went back into it and turned all the filters off again and restarted it...

NOW I CAN UPLOAD THE FILE THAT WOULDN'T UPLOAD BEFORE!! :)

I'll look into it more to see if it's all fixed...

hey, great news!

i'm not going to look at the firewalls unless you report back you still have a problem.

Tho wrt the router: I'm not sure what model Linksys you have (802.11 a/g) describes the type of wireless networks it supports, the model number is a different string. But you can check the router support doc for:
  • If not sure how/why those router filters got set, and if any are still set, you might be best to find the RESET button and use it to reset the router back to factory defaults
  • Check the product website for newer firmware versions for the router
  • See if the router supports a way to SAVE your current configuration. At least if something changes again, you can just restore an OLD configuration vs. if you have alot of customizations you need re-enter after setting it back to factory defaults
