Capcom recently announced the latest release in the Street Fighter franchise and if the video below is any indication, the franchise still has a very loyal following after its debut more than 25 years ago. Known as Ultra Street Fighter IV, the title will ship with five new characters and six new maps.

Those familiar with the Street Fighter franchise may recognize some of the new characters from previous games. Hugo, Rolento and Poison from the Final Fight series will make their debut while Elena will return from Street Fighter III. The remaining newcomer is said to be totally new but isn’t being revealed until the game launches.

Gamers can look forward to battling it out on new maps including Blast Furnace, Cosmic Elevator, Half Pipe, Jurassic Era Research Facility, Mad Gear Hideout and Pitstop 109. We are also told that several characters will receive updates in order to keep their skill set balanced with the rest of the Street Fighter world. Balrog, Chung-Li, Dudley and T.Hawk were specifically mentioned as receiving improvements.

The game is expected to launch early next year for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC. Those that already own Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition can snag the DLC expansion for just $14.99. Alternately, it’ll be available in stores on disc for $39.99 (which includes over $40 of DLC) if you don’t already own either of the two previous games.

Permalink to story.

Cant wait, looks like its going to be fun, I was wondering when the next one was going to come out.

Jeez enough already with the minor revisions of Street Fighter IV.

I bought the original Street Fighter IV and then upgraded to Super Street Fighter IV. The good news is at least this can be DLC if you own the latter version. The downside is that it is $15 for add-on content.

And another thing: If you care about the Street Fighter lore as much as you care about the game, Street Fighter IV does not remotely make any sense. The fighters that were included in Street Fighter III would technically be too young to fight in Street Fighter IV. But that's just nerd talk.

Same here, I bought Street Fighter IV on Xbox 360 back when it came out, then two weeks ago I bought a Steam copy of Super Street Fighter IV and the All-in Costume Pack for like $11 (wish I would have waited for the Summer Sale, D'oh!). I'm not biting on this $15 DLC though until it's like $1 or $2. CAPCOM is just $5 and $10 billing (not even nickel and diming!) people with these revisions.

Crappy graphics and the slow motion look lame to me. :p

And xbox 360 and PS3... Yuck! By then no one will care...

All XboX 1 and PS4 next year baby..

Where are the "five new characters"? All I see are five old characters (except Poison from my favorite beat-em-up of all time, Final Fight).
