Cd Atapi Error

I need to repair my computer but when i install the cd drive and the and insert the cd it doesnt boot up,just bsod.

You have to specify in BIOS that you want to boot from the CD-ROM before attempting to boot from the hard drive.

And how to do that? sincemy computer has 4 slots to bootrimary 0
Secondary0
Primary 1
Secondary 1
If i chose to boot from cd theres a atapi not recognized or something.
