cd burner

hey ho,

my cd/dvd drawer is going crazy. It won't stay in, with or without a disc in it.
I've rebooted. Turned it off. On. Held it in. Pushed the button repeatedly. Nothing works. It just keep popping back out. Like it's possessed.

Suggestions?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Does this only happen when you`re in Windows? If so, it`s possibly virus related.

Otherwise, it`s probably a faulty drive. Try another drive and see if it does the same.

it has nothing to do with windows. My E drive is fine. So, you think I just need to buy a new one? This is how they go bad?

I suppose you could open it up and see if there`s some debris that`s causing the problem. If that doesn`t help, then replace it, thankfully new drives are cheap these days.

hmmmmmm...at the moment it is staying closed. Kinda gives some sort of sigh before it decides to stay closed. It's been a strange day at the computer. Nero not working...scanner being difficult...I should just go to bed. And try it all again in the am.
