CD drive problem

  1. Well, i'm pretty much just here to ask for some assistance.
    I'm having problem with my cd-rom/dvd driver.
    My driver can read dvd but it can not read cds or cd-rom.
    What can I do?

    How old is your drive? Have you gone to your manufactuer's website for drivers or firmware updates?

    Get a seperate driver.

    I'd say it's time to replace the drive.

    Yep. Time to replace it for $20 to $25. They are not worth the troubles of trying to fix them. They wear out too fast when often used... Avoid Sony, Sony Nec, Asus, HP, Memorex, LaCie, Acer.
    Consider LG, Samsung, Pioneer, LiteOn. Plextor and Yamaha are the most reliable, but expensive, when you can find them.
