Hello, i have this problem with a Vaio where it will not recognize a blank cd or blank dvd. When i pop a blank CD-R in it and i try to burn to it using Roxio, it just says please insert a blank CD. I tried the same cd on a different computer and it worked just fine. It will read cd/dvds with stuff written on them but it will not recognize the blank ones. it used to work but for some reason, after installing either power iso, or anydvd, it stopped reading blanks. I have tried reformatting the computer and reinstalling the drivers for the drive. any ideas?
I have a Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-850S ata drive if that helps any
thanks

If you think its software that caused this, did you try without that software after you reformatted? If you did, and it still didn't work, then your drive is broke. Pretty common for drives to lose the ability to write but can still read.
