    hi there
i am not the best on computers
and today i tried to burn a cd from windows media player and it said connect a burner. i think the last time i burned a disc was a month ago and have never had a problem.
And when i now go to "my computer" it only mentions the C drive on the hard disk drives and there is no mention of the d drive...it seems to have disappeared. i removed the door on the computer and there seemed to be a cable at the back of where i put the cd's in not "plugged "in so i pushed it in and then there was a serious error on my computer so i thought maybe this was not meant to be plugged in. so i unplugged it
any ideas on how to get the dvd writer or d drive back
    thanking anyone i advance

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Turn off your computer and open the case.

Make sure the ide and power cables are properly attached to your dvd drive.

Your ide cable will probably look like this.

Now, close your case and turn your computer on.

See if your dvd drive is recognised during boot up and in in windows once it`s loaded.

Lol, never connect or disconnect anything inside your computer while it`s on.

Not only is it potentially dangerous to you, but it can cause damage to your computer.

    Regards Howard :)
