Who is the manufacturer of that drive? Get the model number off it and just look up "<model # here> firmware upgrade"
I'm not sure where to look for the maker of the drive but i believe it is samsung however i still dontknow where to find the model number.
Would tsstcorp cd rom drive ts-h552d be the maker and model number of drive?
I found this but... do i have to open my comp and replace it? and where do i get a 80 pin at and is this even the solution to my problem?
I found this thing from another site but dont know if it works
Source:
1. drive was attached with a 40-Pin IDE cable instead a 80-Pin U-DMA cable
2. in device manager was PIO-Mode instead Ultra DMA
3. drive has "cable select" jumper an was attached as single drive on second IDE port (primary IDE port was free)
Solution:
1. replace 40-Pin cable with one 80-Pin
2. change jumper to "Master" and plug-in cable in to primary IDE port
3. Reboot- SUCCESS!
No problems with the perfomance and reading/writing errors!
