CD rom keeps running...

    G'day, my "D" drive Liteon CD Rom just keeps going, even after I've stopped the music CD, or closed down the game that was running.

    "E" (combo burner) is fine.

    The only way to stop it spinning is to eject and remove the disc.

    most annoying. Any ideas? time for a new one?

    Is it an old drive? Even though you stopped playing the disc, windows might think it could be used soon, so it doesn't want to stop spinning it, only to have to start it back up again shortly.
