Im looking to buy a new cd rom drive. Now are there any specifics I need to know about I'm seeing alot of the abbr. IDE. What does this mean? Do I need to know about this before I buy? Is there anything other than IDE?

This is the cd-rom drive im planning to buy. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827101134

P.S. I have a Samsung CDW/DVD TS-H492A that isn't working right and im not worried about watching DVDs or burning Cds.

with the exception of a few Sata DVDRW's IDE is still pretty much the only gameinn town. you may not be concerend with burning cd's or watching DVD movies but you should still consider a DVD rom rather than a CDRom. DVD roms are generally better readers. and they dont cost that much more than a CD Rom.

Unless you have a really tight budget you should get a DVD burner - anything else will be obsolete in a couple of years.
