CD-rom Quirks!

i have this cd-rom in a PC of mine but it wont read or even recognize a CD-r/RW. Im wondering what i can do to change this,.
so far i have tried a different CD-ROM,loaded a UDF reader program (NERO). Reloaded all Motherboard .inf drivers, and yet still nothing,oh yea i also tried an old 6X burner in it too,,that saw and read the cd-rom, with out any burning software installed.

i'm mostlikely missing something,,

Sounds like you might be having a driver issue. Are you sure that the proper drivers are installed? Especially if it worked with your old cd-rom drive.
