I have 2 hardrives installed, no problem (drives c,d) and an msi dvd burner(drive e) plus a dvd drive (drive f). I'm running windows xp pro but when i check in my computer i have an extra drive, G as a cd drive.

I checked the disk management screen and thats telling me i only have drives c to f, so how did i get this extra drive that does not exist, and more importantly how do i get rid of it. I've tried just about everything. Any help would be gratefully accepted

What do the properties of the "g" drive say?
Mybe you have two partitions on one of the hard drives? Or maybe a virtual HD/CD?

G drive just states cd drive, i formatted the D drive and still this ghost drive G appears. i tried sometime ago to reassign the drive letters which it did but now this ghost seems to be a legacy of that. All i want to do is remove it and i can't find a way to do it
