I have been given A Pentium 2 Computer With Windows 98. The Problem Is That When I Go To My Computer I Don't See A "d" Drive For My Cd Rom And If I Put In A Cd It Does Not Read It. How Can I Install A "d" Drive So The Computer Can Read My Cd's And I Can Install Software Onto My Computer.

Have you make sure that the IDE cable is firmly secured at the back of the drive? Sometimes small thing like this happens.

    HHHmmm! Win 98 ,It's been a while .
Try to boot your system in safe mode using the 'Step by Step confirmation" this will allow you to see each item loaded .You are looking for mscdex and lines in the autoexec.bat and config.sys that refer to the Rom.
If you like post those two files so we can see whats there.
Can you confirm that the bios sees the Rom?
