CD RW drive keeps ejecting

Basically my CD RW drive keeps ejecting. I think this might be caused by some type of trickster virus. But I just don’t know!
I’m running Windows XP, every time I start up the drive opens itself and then I close it, then it opens…ect.
Anyhow I just need someone to help me with this, and hopefully how to resolve it.

Thanks.

That's what you get for eating those poor li'l roos!
I must say though that the steaks are tremendous, very lean meat.
Some CDs/CDRWs etc come with their own Open/Close tray programs. Is there one installed on yours, by mistake?
What burning program do you use? Is it updated? Did you install 2 programs together that don't like one another?
I don't think it is a virus (or a little green man from Mars either).

Check the front cover is fitted correctly, also the front of the tray is ok.
Try changing the ide cable, set the drive up on a different channel eg slave/master master/slave.

does the problem only happen while in windows, have you tried using a boot up floppy to see if its hardware or software related.

Hold the cd drawer closed while u are booting up. :p
Just a few ideas.

Good Luck
