The only violation is that the users took their own pics and got hacked. What does Google have anything to do with iCloud? Google is a search engine that get's you to them, like any other porn that exists in the marketplace. Celebs should take it as free publicity and move on.
Actually, I agree with all you've said, but you've left out a couple of very important points.
The celebrity lawsuit, is a contrived continuation of the free publicity garnered by the hacking. So, henceforth, all you'll hear about is "the lawsuit over NUDE photos". In other words, you never have to retake nude photos, you can cruise on the notoriety of first set for months, if not years.
"Today, celebrities violated by the NUDE photo hacking of the iCloud, filed a motion for the court to remove those photos". Tomorrow it will be another frivolous motion, with the same widespread press coverage. And, "the beat goes on".
We, and everybody else watching this "carnival" unfold, should be god damned grateful that Google HASN'T pulled those links. If that were to happen, then web censorship would get a big, big, boost from those seeking publicity by manipulating that very same web for their own publicity!
And FWIW, "carnival" is the proper term for this annoying supercilious nonsense:
To wit from Google: mid 16th century: from Italian
carnevale,
carnovale, from medieval Latin
carnelevamen,
carnelevarium ‘Shrovetide,’ from Latin
caro,
carn- ‘flesh’ +
levare ‘put away.’
