Character display problem in W2K

  1. Can anyone help me with a very tricky problem. Tricky in that I have searched everywhere for the answer and haven't come up with anything yet.
    Certain applications display the wrong character font/size so that the text doesn't fit into the application window.
    I have tried modifying the display preferences through desktop properties, but it makes no difference.
    I attached a small screen-shot of what I mean:
    Any assistance to resolve this annoyance would be very much appreciated.

    Rightclick anywhere on the desktop, select Properties, select Settings tab, and click Advanced.
    Under tab General you can change the font-size, set it to "Small fonts"
