    Checksum error

I have a friend who is getting a "Checksum error" after the computer loads.

He clicks on OK and all is well.

    Any ideas?

checksum error in relation to what?

When the BIOS says "Checksum error", that usually means your CMOS has been reset. This can happen if your CMOS battery is bad or there is a problem with your system board.

Some software can also cause this problem.

If you reset instead of shut off the computer, does it still give you this message?
