Chkdsk hangs - 2 LBA Errors - How can that area excluded ?

Hi,

the samsung HDD-Util (HUTIL) has found two LBA adresses defective in the surface test.
Is there any possibility to exclude the defective areas in the FAT (ok, with some small data loss of course) to reestablish a logic, error free FAT-Structure on the NTFS Disk??

The Background:
The drive works and boots (XP) but when starting a BACKUP (thats life) with True Image I get a bluescreen error at a certain point and Chkdsk hangs after step 3.

So I'm searching for a solution like described above: Accept some data losing to make it possible for the Image Software to work....

Any hints ?
TIA,
-daniel

The Samsung utility itself should offer you the possibility to relocate the bad sectors.

Plain old Windows chkdsk will do what you want too. Just tell it to perform a surface scan.

Hi,

thank you so far but the samsung utility can't do this.

Which flags on checkdisk?
I tried /F (3 steps) and now /F /R (5 steps) but it hangs still after the last step.
