Help I was infected with the ciadoor 121 backdoor and cant get rid of it! I ran Windows defender with a full scan multiple times and it says it got rid of it but it keeps coming back. Anything I can do to get rid of it? Oh and I cannot connect to the internet with that computer. Most programs for some reason close themselves after about a minute, and Administrator rights are only avalible during safe mode too.

viruses are hard to get rid of...

Im not a pro but what i usually when i get a virus i phyically unplug the internet cable and run my ANTI-VIRUS software. windows defender is still in beta they just came out with beta 2 so you might want to get lavasofts AD-Awere personal it totally free and i find it does a good job, but when you do the scan (as i think you know) you must have administrator privilages. Also if you go to google and download their "google update" software it includes a free subscription to norton anti-virus for like a year or a great deal of time. The fact that you cant get on the internet is difficult, try downloading on another computer.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Go HERE and follow the instructions exactly.

Post a fresh HJT log as an attachment into this thread, only after doing the above.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html
