CMOS battery replacement

  1. when replacing dead CMOS batteries, are there different types depending on the mobo? or are all of them basically the same?

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

    The CR2032 Coin Cell Battery is the most widely used, but isn`t the only design available.

    Look HERE for some different types of batteries.

    Your mobo manual should tell you which type of battery to use with your mobo.

    thanks howard, i saw right away that the CR2032 Coin Cell Battery was what i was looking for. i was thinking that all cmos batteries were shaped like that but there might be other differences. that link cleared things up for me :wave:
