Com stays on for one min, then blue screen

hi, i downloaded something i shouldnt have
and now my computer wont stay on for me to do a virus scan
it has a blue screen error which i dont have time to read

is there any way to remove it without reinstalling vista?

Please complete the 8-step Viruses/Spyware/Malware Preliminary Removal Instructions if you can. If not then it would be best to reinstall Vista.

i managed to fix it with a 'last known good configuration', when it eventually gave me the option

it was firefox/something/iamfamous.dll, an obvious trojan
is it true that if you clean with antivirus its STILL not safe to do online banking after this?

It really depends on the virus. Some have no intentions of stealing your information and are more there to delete and make a hard time of your PC. But i still never advise online banking. I do it because i have 48p in my account (being a kid is tough ) but still stay away from it if you can.
